Israel, 1969 10 Lirot (Silver), mintage: 19.878
“Shalom” commemorating the 21th anniversary of the state and decicated to those who lost their lives in the struggle for independence. It was a year of hope for Peace between the State of Israel and the Arab countries.
Obverse: The coin displays the word “Shalom” in Hewbrew in the centre of the coin. The denomination “10” Lirot around the rim with the date “1969/5729” in English and Hewbrew.
Reverse: The inscription in the center of the coin, “But No Man Knoweth His Place of Burial” (Deuteronomy, 34:6). The words are positioned to resemble the battlefield monument of the “Unknown Soldier”. An olive branch with an army helmet in the background at the lower right.
